Over 25 Crore UJALA LED Bulbs Distributed in the Country

The govt. has been implementing UJALA scheme under which govt. agency Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) provides LED bulbs at affordable prices. This scheme is being implemented across the country. This is the world’s largest non-subsidized scheme that means consumer has to pay for buy LED bulbs.

According to the data, over 25 crore LED bulbs have been successfully distributed under the Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All (UJALA) program. And also the distributors has distributed over 28 lakh LED tube-lights bulbs and 10 lakh energy efficient fans under the scheme.

The programme is being implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Power Ministry, has cooperated with various power distribution companies (discoms) in 29 states and seven Union Territories.

The LED bulbs and Tube Lights comes with three year warranty while the energy efficient fans comes with 2.5 year warranty under the scheme. The EESL would replace the bulbs, tube lights and fans free of cost under the warranty period if a technical problem occurs.

The LED bulbs has already proved to be the electricity and money savers for the consumers as well as the government. The distribution of the LED tube lights and fans would further help in saving the energy for peak demand and reducing energy bills for the consumers.
