In Haryana budget for the financial year 2017-18, the state government has announced two schemes for rural and urban development. The scheme ‘Deenbandhu Haryana Gram Uday Yojana’, named after Choudhary Chhotu Ram will focus on development of villages.
The announcement of Deenbandhu Haryana Gram Uday Yojana (DHGUY) was made by Capt Abhimanyu, the finance minister of Haryana while presenting the budget for 2017-18.
Under Deenbandhu Haryana Gram Uday Yojana, the state government will develop about 1500 villages having a population in the range of 3,000 to 10,000 people. In villages also, the government will provide physical, social and economic infrastructure facilities at par with urban areas.
The scheme will be implemented with the expenditure of Rs. 5,000 crores in a phased manner in three years. The scheme will be funded through NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) assistance.
The government has created an outlay of Rs. 1,200 crore for Deenbandhu Haryana Gram Uday Yojana for next financial year, i.e. 2017-18.
Besides, the government has also proposed a scheme ‘Mangal Nagar Vikas Yojana‘ in order to develop modern infrastructure and to maintenan the existing infrastructure in urban areas. The scheme to be launched soon with an outlay of Rs. 1,000 crore.
