Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana – 1.5 Crore Connections Released in 8 Months

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), an ambitious scheme of Central Government has seen more success than any other scheme. It can be proved by the fact that 1.5 Crore LPG connections have already been released within just 8 Months of launch of the scheme. PM Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1st, 2016 to provide free LPG connections to BPL families across the country.

The target set for the financial year was set at 1.5 Crore connections which has already been met within just 8 months on the back of a massive outreach in rural areas. The Ujjwala Yojana has raised the national LPG coverage from 61% to 70% as of 1st December 2016.

As an effect of Ujjwala Yojana, the number of number of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe households with a LPG connection has been raised to 35% of the total LPG coverage in the country.

Following are the top five states to get the maximum number of connections under the PM Ujjwala Yojana.
1. Uttar Pradesh – 46 Lakh
2. West bengal – 19 Lakh
3. Bihar – 19 Lakh
4. Madhya Pradesh – 17 Lakh
5. Rajasthan 14 Lakh
